The objective of the webinar is to present the innovative SIMBIOLIVA project, which pursues the development of biotechnological solutions to promote a circular economy for olive groves associated with alperujo (olive oil processing), protecting the soil from degradation and increasing crop resilience. SIMBIOLIVA proposes a strategy based on physicochemical processes (three-phase centrifugation and increasing the temperature during thermomixing) that reduce the presence of polyphenols by solubilizing them, along with biological treatments that apply a load of specific microorganisms that ultimately degrade the polyphenols in the alperujo (olive oil processing), thereby reducing treatment times. All of this is aimed at obtaining a system that results in a nature-based solution that has a direct and positive impact on the olive and agricultural sectors.
