The program has selected 10 Local Action Groups to create a working group. These LEADER groups will receive support in identifying key stakeholders in their areas and developing a joint roadmap.
- The project has now formed a working group with 10 Local Action Groups to implement projects related to sustainable food.
- The group aims to encourage direct cooperation between actors in the food chain, from producers to consumers.
The "Terralimenta" program held its second edition last January to continue a highly successful training program that has contributed to creating a sustainable rural environment, "where food plays a central role in the ecosystem of the region," as the organization asserts.
This program, organized by the Daniel and Nina Carasso Foundation in collaboration with the consulting firm Red2Red , was launched in 2021 to carry out actions related to sustainable food and contribute to the development of a food system more connected to its territory .
Thus, the program has selected 10 Local Action Groups ( LAGs ), two more than planned due to the "diversity and quality of the applications," to create a working group . This represents 8% of the LAGs nationwide.
LEADER joint work
These LEADER groups will receive support to identify key stakeholders in their territories and develop a joint roadmap for strategic positioning. This means they will benefit from a training program accompanied by expert technical advice to design, develop, and execute projects related to sustainable food. "Terralimenta" aims for the working group to become a benchmark in sustainable food and local development . Thanks to the territorial ties of its LAGs, the group has the potential to motivate direct cooperation among people involved in the food chain (whether producers, consumers, or intermediate actors).
The GALs selected to participate in this edition of the program by autonomous communities are the following:
- Andalusia
- Castile and León
- Catalonia
- ADRINOC , Association for Integral Rural Development (Girona)
- LEADER Association of Ponent (Lleida)
- Valencian Community
- GAL ASIR , Association for Rural Sustainability and Innovation of Southern Alicante (Alicante)
- Galicia
- GAL Condado Paradanta (Pontevedra)
- Balearic Islands
- Navarre
- TEDER , Tierra Estella Rural Development
This working group will generate a new agri-food production model through the transition to "Territorialized Agri-Food Systems" (TAS) . This model entails evolving toward systems closely linked to their agri-food production and with the following functionalities:
- Agricultural diversity
- Sustainable production that respects its rural environment and its environment
- Production that guarantees universal access to food
- With strong links between rural inhabitants and their productive systems
The territorial distribution of the GAL of both editions is available on the following map .
