The "Va de Agro" meeting brings together operational groups and innovative projects from 15 European countries in Galicia.

The meeting took place on September 8 in Santiago de Compostela and hosted more than 30 regional, national, and European projects.


  • The event was organized by the Avienergy, Micoalga-Feed, Proteinleg and Tirac Operational Groups
  • The event served to present advances and innovative developments in the agri-food and forestry sectors.

The "Va de Agro" meeting brings together operational groups and innovative projects from 15 European countries in Galicia.

Innovation and cooperation as key tools to address current challenges. This was the premise of the meeting"Va de Agro. Co-innovating in the agri-food and forestry sector," held on September 8 in Santiago de Compostela. The event was organized by the Avienergy , Micoalga-Feed , and Proteinleg Operational Groups. and Tirac , coordinated by the Galician Business-University Foundation , is part of the activities of the dissemination plan for the innovation projects of these Operational Groups, 80% co-financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) of the European Union and 20% by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, within the framework of the National Rural Development Program 2014-2022.

The event brought together more than 30 regional, national, and European projects . Its objectives were:

  • Present innovative progress and results
  • Promote the transfer of results to the sector
  • Connecting the various stakeholders in the field to explore possibilities for joint collaboration

The central themes that have structured the programming have been the following:

  • Reducing antibiotics in livestock farming
  • Food sustainability
  • The revaluation of by-products and waste in agriculture and livestock (energy utilization of manure or creation of new agricultural inputs for the improvement of organic crops)
  • Innovation and biodiversity

News

The meeting was attended by projects such as Bioproinsect , which seeks solutions in the insect -based food sector, such as obtaining flour from worms as a product for animal feed.

Also attracting attention are projects such as those of the Proteinleg Operational Group , which has developed a tuna substitute with a plant-based product based on legumes . This project, which focuses on traditional legume varieties, aims to promote alternatives to animal proteins and reduce livestock's dependence on soy.

The symposium featured a series of presentations and roundtable discussions featuring some 16 innovative projects, as well as an exhibition section that brought together 33 companies.

The success of the event has encouraged the organizers to make it an annual event and repeat it in the next edition. And, given the capacity crowd, the presentations were broadcast live, so the recording of the event can be viewed here .
