  • The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food's stand allowed for the presentation of initiatives focused on sustainable and rural tourism.

The International Tourism Fair ( FITUR ) 2025 took place from January 22nd to 28th at the Madrid Trade Fair Centre (IFEMA). This 45th edition highlighted the strength of this event, becoming the second most important tourism fair in the world and a meeting point for industry professionals and international inbound and outbound markets.

For another year, the event featured the participation of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, which set up a stand through the Spanish Natural Trails Network program , organizing various workshops, project presentations from fifteen Local Action Groups ( LAGs ) , and regional food tastings.

The PAC Network has been present to disseminate these initiatives in rural areas and learn about LEADER projects firsthand. of these GAL.

LEADER at FITUR 2025

The participating GALs in this edition have presented their respective territorial development projects:

From the south of Palencia, the Cerrato region boasts more than 370 underground wineries that are part of historic neighborhoods perfectly integrated into their surroundings. The organizing GAL seeks to promote wine tourism, the preservation of its traditional winery neighborhoods, and the restoration of old gypsum mines.

The Cantabrian Rural Development Network together with the 5 GAL that comprise it ( ADT Campoo Los Valles , GAL Liébana , ADR Saja Nansa , Valles Pasiegos and the The Asón-Agüera-Trasmiera GAL (Gal Asón-Agüera-Trasmiera ) presented the LEADER cooperation project "36 self-guided routes in Naturea Cantabria." The initiative aims to promote the network of marked trails that guarantee safe, self-guided hiking routes.

In line with sustainability and authenticity, the Extremadura region focused on showcasing local initiatives, the cultural and natural heritage of La Siberia , and the opportunities this area offers for responsible tourism.

The presentation focused on sharing this festival, which highlights the importance of nature, livestock, and gastronomy, along with respect for the environment and the territorial cohesion of this region of Cáceres , which has also been declared a Festival of International Tourist Interest.

This project highlighted the promotion of a sustainable tourism model based on active and nature-based tourism, specifically focusing on hiking and cycling tourism, and promoting the digitalization of destinations, primarily through the implementation of tourist flow monitoring and data processing systems.

Presentation of the innovative tourist route that offers visitors the opportunity to tour a mine within the Riotinto Mining Park and positions the region as a benchmark in industrial tourism and sustainable mining.

From the regions of Deza and Tabeirós-Terra de Montes comes this project that seeks to promote environmentally friendly tourism and promote the natural and cultural wealth of the region known as the "green heart" due to its abundant biodiversity and landscapes.

  • “LEADER Region of Eastern Asturias” – ADRIOA

With a special focus on young people , the initiative focuses on promoting projects that boost the economy and curb depopulation, promoting tourism by highlighting the region's natural and cultural wealth, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

  • “Network of historic pilgrimage routes to Guadalupe” – APRODERVI

Through signage, promotion, and infrastructure improvements, the project aims to foster sustainable tourism, revitalize rural communities, and preserve the heritage of the ancient pilgrimage routes to the Monastery of Guadalupe in Cáceres.

The project aims to boost wine tourism by promoting its wines, landscapes, and cultural heritage, combining experiences linked to viticulture, gastronomy, and rural tourism.

This LEADER cooperation initiative offers 34 ecotourism experiences in the protected areas of the Natura 200 Network of Castilla-La Mancha, allowing visitors to discover the region's natural wealth while respecting the environment.
