The exhibition offers free in-person screenings in 70 locations across the 17 autonomous communities and can be followed via online streaming from Spain and eight other countries in Central America and the Caribbean.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food has organized a new edition of the National Film and Rural Women's Series, which will be held this year from October 11 to November 18.

The series will open on October 11th in Madrid at the Cine Doré of the Spanish Film Archive. It will kick off an exhibition that will travel to 70 locations throughout the autonomous communities, offering an exciting program of feature and short films by Spanish filmmakers.

The cycle also includes virtual programming that will be available free of charge, between October 14 and 28, from Spain, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Jamaica, Nicaragua and Panama, through the website: www.cineymujeresrurales.es .

The exhibition coincides with the commemoration of International Rural Women's Day on October 15 and is part of the fourteenth edition of the Rural Women's Excellence in Innovation Awards.

The series aims to highlight the work of women living in rural areas and highlight their contribution to our society through a selection of films that offer viewers a broad and up-to-date view of the reality of rural Spain and, in particular, the role women play within it, far removed from stereotypes and clichés.

A FILM PROGRAM WITH INTERESTING PROPOSALS

The program includes some of the most interesting offerings in recent Spanish cinema, often set in rural areas. These films have received critical and public acclaim, such as 20,000 Species of Bees (Estibaliz Urresola), Five Little Wolves (Alauda Ruiz de Azúa), Water (Elena López Riera), Killing Crabs (Omar Al Abdul Razzak), and Drying Rooms (Rocío Mesa).

One of the new features of this edition is the collaboration between the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and the Ministry of Culture and Sport, under which the film The Day They Flew the Mountain (Alba Bresolí) has been included in the online programming of the recent film exhibition Europe and Ruralities and the VI National Film and Rural Women Series.

In addition to the screenings, the in-person project includes numerous parallel activities—meetings, discussions, presentations, exhibitions, and outreach activities—that will take place in various locations along the route.

The National Rural Women and Film Series thus continues its growth and its efforts to incorporate new screenings and activities with each edition, aiming to highlight the important role women play in rural areas. This is a pioneering and well-established project that has grown year after year, reaching 28,769 spectators (in person and online) in the last edition.
