MAPAMA initiates emergency hydrological and forestry actions in the affected area.

Last August, a serious forest fire broke out in the municipality of Campillo de Altobuey in the province of Cuenca, affecting a total of 1,500 hectares, 550 of which were public forests of pine and holm oak. During the fire, MAPAMA initially responded by dispatching two amphibious aircraft from Matacán in Salamanca and Pollensa in Mallorca, and a forest fire reinforcement brigade (BRIF) from Daroca.

The next step was the implementation of emergency hydrological and forestry measures on the land affected by this massive wildfire, through the Directorate General for Rural Development and Forestry Policy. The investment for this measure totals €206,689.00 and will be carried out by the company CEIFRA.

The main objective of these actions is to reduce the contribution of ash and debris, contributing to the restoration of vegetation that existed in the area prior to the fire, as well as to guarantee the supply of drinking water and prevent the spread of pests and erosion, resulting from the weakening and loss of forest cover. The proposed actions include:

- Felling, limbing and topping of non-extracted pines in use

- Cutting, collecting and stacking of waste.

- Removal of waste with brush cutter

By carrying out these most urgent and necessary actions, we are providing institutional and collaborative support to the Community of Castilla-La Mancha in the restoration of this forest disaster.
