Catalonia is calling for grants for Local Action Groups in this Autonomous Community to carry out cooperation projects during 2017 and 2018, within the framework of its 2014-2020 Rural Development Program.
03.10.2016
The call is aimed at Catalan local action groups to implement cooperation projects during 2017 and 2018.
Local action groups (LAGs) in the Community of Catalonia will receive one million euros for cooperation in the Leader territories, according to a report published on August 29 by the Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries, and Food in the Official Journal of the Generalitat of Catalonia. This measure responds to the specific needs of each autonomous community within the framework of the Rural Development Program (RDP) for Catalonia for the period 2014-2020.
The main objective of these grants is to implement cooperation projects between Leader regions in Catalonia, which have common or similar priority strategies or themes, so that they can develop joint actions, unifying their work efforts and reaching common conclusions or products.
The 11 local action groups selected by the Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food of the Generalitat of Catalonia to implement participatory local development (LEADER approach) during the 2014-2020 period, within the framework of its Rural Development Program, will benefit from this call.
Leader groups will be able to carry out their own projects in collaboration with economic and social stakeholders in their region.
Cooperation projects will be governed by the principles of innovation and demonstration impact. They must contribute to the sustainable development of rural areas, while also involving the pooling of ideas, knowledge, human resources, and materials to achieve the common goal. To achieve this objective, the development of cross-cutting projects that reinforce the strategies of the Leader groups and add value to the Leader Group of Catalonia must be encouraged.
The aid provided for in this call is co-financed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD), which will provide 43% of the total, while the Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food of the Generalitat of Catalonia will finance 57%.
