  • The needs of young people will become the leitmotif of the National Rural Network (RRN) Action Plan in the coming months.
  • To adapt the activities aimed at this group, the RRN has designed a survey and a Thematic Group

The National Rural Network (RRN) will focus its Action Plan for the coming months on this last topic, focusing on improving living conditions and quality employment in rural areas , so that our young people can pursue their life plans in rural areas.

To successfully implement these activities and ensure they are fully aligned with the real needs of the rural youth population, the National Rural Network has launched two simultaneous tools that require the collaboration of young people, the general rural population, and experts. On the one hand, a survey is being conducted to determine youth's assessment of the rural environment. On the other hand, a Thematic Group —or working group—has been designed in which young people can also actively participate with their voice and vote.

Survey

This questionnaire aims to inform the work on youth and generational renewal that the RRN plans to promote in the coming months. Its objective is to understand how young people value rural life, what needs they identify as priorities, and how they believe the RRN could contribute to addressing them.

The survey takes no more than 10 minutes and is available until May 10th here .

Thematic Group “Youth in Rural Areas”

This working group, created by the RRN, will bring together approximately 20 people who will contribute proposals, ideas, and reflections to organize the RRN's future action on generational renewal.

The work of the Thematic Group will consist of an exchange of information and prior analysis by the members and a joint meeting, which is expected to take place on June 7, 2021 .

Three profiles are planned for the group members:

  • Profile 1: people from the academic world who have delved into the analysis and study of this topic (between 5 and 7 people)
  • Type 2 : between 7 and 10 people from:

- Representatives of successful projects and experiences supporting rural youth.

- Members of the NRN Assembly who can contribute their experience to the development of initiatives to support young people in rural areas.

- Local Action Groups (LAGs) that work specifically to empower young people or that have participated in the development of successful projects by young people.

- Youth sections of agri-food cooperatives, OPAs , and major agri-food organizations.

- Political representatives and officials involved in policies related to supporting young people in rural areas.

  • Type 3: Young people (under 41 years old) who live or work in rural areas and want to contribute to this process. They can either be representatives of organizations working in rural areas with these interests or individuals (between 7 and 10 people).

To join this "gang" that will work for and on behalf of rural youth, you can submit your application by May 10 here .
