December 15, 2020. The National Rural Network (RRN) today presented the Regional Antennas program, which will be implemented nationwide, to the Rural Development Program (RDP) management authorities. In total, the program has a team of nine Regional Antennas that will carry out their work in all the autonomous communities.
- The goal is to achieve the greatest possible proximity to rural areas
- The work of the Regional Antennas focuses on understanding the different regional realities, identifying good practice projects, organizing activities and improving the dissemination of RRN content.

The objective of the Regional Antennas program is to offer the National Rural Network a greater presence in the region , as well as greater connections with rural areas, while also allowing for a closer understanding of the rural environment. Hence the importance of the Regional Antennas in promoting the National Rural Development Program (PNDR) and the 17 regional Rural Development Programs (PDR).
More immediate work
The Regional Antennas begin their journey with an agenda that sets two immediate objectives:
- Workshops on the "Long-Term Vision for Rural Areas" : Regional Antennas will launch workshops in each territorial area created by the European Commission to encourage local authorities to hold workshops on the future of rural areas.
- Rural Inspiration Awards 2021 : The European Rural Network has announced the 3rd edition of the "Rural Inspiration Awards 2021" , which will recognize the five best EAFRD projects from 2014-2020 based on five categories (green future, digital future, resilient future, inclusive future, and popular vote). The National Rural Network will send the projects identified by the Regional Antennas as having the best chances of competing to Europe.
Background
Studies conducted by the National Rural Network show that some of the NRN's activities are unknown to the local population. These results have prompted the creation of Regional Antennas: an intermediary entity that allows, on the one hand, to transmit the demands and needs of rural areas to the NRN, and on the other, to achieve greater capillarity in the transmission of messages and the dissemination of information on rural development to local stakeholders.
The Regional Antennas already exist in Europe, specifically in Slovakia, where the National Rural Network traveled in March of this year to gather information on the model developed there, which has been in operation since 2007-2013. The visit to the Regional Antennas in Nitra, Trencin, and Trnava served to develop the program, which is being launched today and kicked off with the official presentation day between the RDP management authorities, the Regional Antennas, and the National Rural Network.
