The participatory workshops on "Rural Europe 2040" are a European Commission initiative to help rural areas strengthen four key factors for their development in the near future: demographic change, connectivity, poverty risk, and limited access to services.
The deadline for submitting the results of the workshops conducted by rural organizations to the National Register of Natural Resources is February 2. The results can be viewed here when they are published.
Workshops
The RRN and its Regional Antennas have organized various workshops with rural organizations to develop participatory workshops on the long-term vision for rural areas. During these workshops, they were provided with workshop materials , which included a toolkit consisting of a PowerPoint presentation, a standard script, thematic cards, and a final results sheet.
Above all, the objective of the workshops was to raise awareness among the various rural development stakeholders about the importance of getting involved in this new process launched by Europe to express their concerns, problems, points of view, and their future vision for their area. Only in this way, by planning from the present, will it be possible to achieve what they desire for tomorrow.
A total of ten sessions were held between the RRN's Regional Antennas and local entities between January 8 and 13, 2021, with the following programming:
08/01- Catalonia, Balearic Islands and Canary Islands
11/01- Andalusia and Extremadura , Foral Community of Navarre and Basque Country/Euskadi .
12/01 - Principality of Asturias and Cantabria , Aragon and La Rioja , Castilla-La Mancha and the Community of Madrid
13/01- Galicia , Castile and León , Valencian Community and Region of Murcia
Regional Antennas of the RRN
The RRN launched the Regional Antennas program nationwide last December. The program has a team of nine Regional Antennas that will carry out their work in all the autonomous communities.
The goal of these initiatives is to achieve the greatest possible proximity to rural areas, as well as to understand the different regional realities, identify best-practice projects, organize activities, and improve the dissemination of RRN content.
