The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food has published today in the Official State Gazette the call for applications for grants for the organization of the CULTIVA Program, related to training placements for young farmers on model farms, for 2022.

The CULTIVA 2022 Program has a budget of €1 million for organizing training stays of between 5 and 14 days that contribute to the transfer of knowledge and the practical training of young agricultural professionals.

Requirements for “Model Stays”

The application period for grants for national entities representing the agricultural sector to organize training stays for the CULTIVA 2022 Program on their associated model farms opens on April 8. Interested entities will have 30 business days to submit their applications, from April 8 to May 23 .

Participation is open to general and national professional agricultural organizations, as well as any non-profit entity, association, or organization representing the agricultural and/or livestock sectors at the national level. These entities will be responsible for identifying model host farms and designing the internships and training programs, as well as preparing, managing, and coordinating their logistics.

These entities must accompany their application with a training placement plan, including a list of model host farms and the placements scheduled for each. This plan will be supra-regional in nature and will guarantee the presence of farms headed by women. Furthermore, all host farms must be affiliated with the submitting entity and be exemplary in terms of innovation, production resources, business model, and social, environmental, or climatic characteristics.

The sets of plans submitted by the applicant entities will make up the 2022 "Training Internships" catalog and will be the basis for the selection of internships by young farmers and ranchers.

Young farmers and ranchers

This year, young professionals who entered the agricultural sector for the first time as farm managers on or after January 1, 2017, and who were under 41 years of age at the time of joining the sector, will be eligible to participate in the CULTIVA Program. When assigning training placements, priority will be given to the most recently established young people, female farmers and ranchers, and those who did not participate in the program last year.

The training placements will begin in the third quarter of this year and will run until June 30, 2023.

All information about the CULTIVA 2022 Program can be found in the Rural Youth section of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food website.
