February 11, 2021. On February 10, the National Rural Network presented the publication "From Urban to Rural Environment: Best Entrepreneurial Practices of New Residents," a document that compiles 25 best entrepreneurial practices developed by new residents from across the country and across various sectors. This compilation, as well as its associated audiovisual material, was presented at an online event, in which several of the selected projects participated, in order to hear their firsthand experience.
- The National Rural Network publishes "From urban to rural areas: good practices in entrepreneurship by new inhabitants", a compilation of examples of rural entrepreneurship by people from urban areas
- A dozen videos about the experiences of entrepreneurs accompany the publication.
The publication, which features entrepreneurial projects from people who decided to leave urban areas to settle in rural areas, presents 25 best practices of innovative, successful projects that are transferable to other parts of the country . It also represents a wide variety of sectors with opportunities for entrepreneurship: from services to the population, cosmetics, leisure, tourism, and the agri-food sector. The National Rural Network received more than 130 proposals, from which 25 best practices were ultimately selected.
Nine of the entrepreneurs featured in this publication participated in this online event, with the goal of sharing their experiences as inspiration for others looking to move to rural areas. Throughout the presentation, they explained what motivated them to move to rural areas, the obstacles they encountered, and the lessons learned and experiences they learned along the way.
Access to credit, digitalization, and personalized advice for entrepreneurs were some of the barriers pointed out by Ramón ( Troquel Games ), Mariví ( Mari Golosa ), and Vanessa ( Naianais Cosmética Natural) during the first roundtable discussion. Ramón pointed out that, “We're often given the keys to the plane and we just take off, without even taking a piloting course; it often results in us crashing.”
In the second panel discussion, Ana (AyF Tejedores ), Carmen ( Eco-Insider ), Sergio ( Ortutik Ahora ), Verónica (desarrollo de personas ) and Olga ( Espacio Sama ) also shared their experiences and explained how they overcame the obstacles they encountered along the way. The need for a change in life, to make a complete turn and start a new path in a rural environment meant that many of them faced the first difficulty of overcoming their own personal limitations in order to “make a commitment to a change of life”.
The space created during this event allowed not only the publication's entrepreneurs to connect with each other, but also the more than 200 people who attended the event . The chat conversations and live appearances allowed for the creation of a network of contacts with a common goal: promoting entrepreneurship in rural areas.
In this regard, the National Rural Network continues working to achieve these goals through training, with its specialized entrepreneurship course in rural areas; through joint work with Local Action Groups as key and indispensable agents that energize the region; and, finally, through the dissemination of all best practices in entrepreneurship that allow us to continue working for a vibrant, active, and sustainable rural environment.
The videos related to the publication are of two types: one promotional video, and the other, a long video and ten videos in video clips for individually disseminating some of the best practices. All of this audiovisual material can be found on the RRN's YouTube channel.
