The implementation of the package of forestry measures included in the Rural Development Programs (RDP) was the subject of debate, with experiences and opinions exchanged among Management Authorities, land managers, public and private beneficiaries, non-governmental organizations, and other interested groups.

Representatives of forest management stakeholders met to exchange experiences and opinions on forestry measures for rural development, to broaden their focus, improve their implementation, and enhance the national coherence of the horizontal aspects of the National Rural Development Framework.
During the workshop, it was explained that the total investment planned for forestry measures amounts to more than €2.107 billion in co-financed expenditure, as well as the obligation of the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) to allocate at least 30% to environmental measures.
Among the so-called forestry measures, discussions included those corresponding to agroforestry systems, damage prevention measures, investments for environmental and productive purposes, and payment for forestry services. The group of private forest owners, represented by the Confederation of Forestry Organizations of Spain (COSE), also presented the implications of implementing these measures for the management of their forests. For her part, the WWF representative spoke about their environmental implications.
The managers and beneficiaries of the measures recognized the need to simplify the entire process related to the EAFRD. They also concluded that implementing the programs is both important and challenging, enabling the extraction of resources from forests that contribute to the well-being of the population and, therefore, contribute to establishing a population in rural areas.
Sharing information between programs has been identified as a particularly useful tool for developing and implementing measures in the coming years.
Workshops like this one, organized by the National Rural Network on October 25, will contribute to improving the implementation of these measures. According to María Fernández Sanz, a representative of the Ministry, the goal is to "share experiences in the implementation of forestry measures included in the 2014-2020 Rural Development Programs (RDPs), combining the views of managers, forest owners, and environmental organizations."
