The Presura fair (Soria) is the meeting point between rural and urban Spain. A space where rural Spain showcases its resources to those thinking of starting a life outside of urban centers. Presura is characterized by presenting the rural world in a positive light, as a territory full of opportunities.
- The motto of Presura 21 was “Rural Feminine”
- After four editions, the fair has established itself as a national benchmark in the fight to repopulate rural Spain.
The fifth edition of Presura – Presura 21 (November 5-7, Soria) – has returned to its in-person format after the pandemic hiatus and was held under the slogan #RuralFemenino , to highlight the role of rural women in the field of rural development.
Hence, the National Rural Network (RRN) has actively participated in the fair, both as a sponsor of the event and to outline all the actions developed by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA) in the area of rural women .
Rural women
Carolina Gutiérrez, Deputy Director General of Rural Development at MAPA, presented a positive and optimistic view regarding the visibility and incorporation of women into leadership and management roles in rural areas. However, she added that "continued work is needed to place rural women in their proper role and achieve full equal rights between men and women working for rural development."
Gutiérrez detailed the most relevant equality policies promoted by the Ministry:
- Joint Ownership : direct subsidies to joint ownership farms to supplement the reductions in Social Security contributions currently available to the partner of the farm owner who enters agricultural activity.
- Grants for women's associations at the national and CAP levels: for the purpose of organizing events that promote women's entrepreneurship, incorporation, and continued participation in rural economic activity.
- Rural Women's Innovation Excellence Awards : The 12th edition of these awards, aimed at promoting rural women's projects, has just been announced. These awards include a cash prize that serves to support these initiatives.
He also highlighted the new equality approach introduced in the new CAP at the request of the Spanish Government.
