04/09/2021. The current transition to a digital age must find the primary sector with its homework done.

  • Funding is provided by the FAIRshare project – part of the EU's Horizon 2020 Framework Programme – which is leading the consultancy on digital services to support productive and sustainable agriculture.
  • The grants are intended for existing digital advisory tools and services (DATS).

The FAIRshare project – part of the European Union's Horizon 2020 Framework Programme for research and innovation projects – has called for funding for existing digital advisory tools and services (DATS), such as communication tools, farm software , benchmarking tools, web and telephone applications, digital education and training materials and support, among others.

FAIRshare will support each project with €90,000 in funding and strategic assistance. Support is planned for 10 tools across Europe representing different sectors, production systems, regions, and agricultural advisory contexts.

Applicants may be an advisory service, a group of advisors within an advisory service, or a group of independent advisors.

Funding is not applicable to the development of new digital tools and services, but rather to the adaptation of existing tools or DATS. The call is therefore designed to cover the costs of aspects such as personnel, workshops, hosting cross-visits, training, and licensing of key DATS, among others.

What is the FAIRshare project?

The FAIRshare project—part of the Horizon 2020 Framework Program for research and innovation projects in the European Union—leads the way for consulting on digital tools and services to support more productive and sustainable agriculture.

FAIRshare compiles and disseminates a database of digital advisory tools and services ( DATs ) used internationally to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of agricultural services.

The project represents a benchmark for the state of digitalization in the agri-food and forestry sectors at the European level, where these tools ( DATs ) have been developed based on the real needs of farmers and agricultural advisors. In this sense, FAIRshare aims to advance knowledge of the level of digitalization in the sector, and specifically in agricultural advisory services.

The FAIRshare project partners in Spain are Cajamar , INTIA , and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food through the General Directorate of Rural Development, Innovation, and Agri-Food Training.
