The event to disseminate the results of the European Focus Groups (EU) and the National Focus Group on Irrigation, Energy, and the Environment will take place on May 31, 2016, at the National Center for Agricultural Training (CENCA) in San Fernando de Henares, Madrid.
The European Focus Groups (EU) created within the context of the European Innovation Partnership for Productive and Sustainable Agriculture (EIP-AGRI) brought together 20 experts, including farmers or foresters, advisors, researchers, and representatives of agricultural businesses, to collect and synthesize knowledge on best practices in a specific field or topic, highlighting both problems and opportunities. The European Focus Groups conducted a diagnosis of the current situation at both the research and practical levels and highlighted possible solutions to the identified problems, suggesting and prioritizing innovative actions. During this session, the participants of the EU Focus Groups who have completed their work will present their results on the following specific topics:
Organic matter content in Mediterranean regions
Reducing the use of antibiotics in the pig sector
High natural value areas - agricultural profitability
Genetic Resources, cooperation models
Profitability of permanent pastures
Water and Agriculture
Integrated management for combating soil-borne diseases in arable crops
Innovative management of short food supply chains
Precision agriculture
Protein Cultures
The National Focal Group on Irrigation, Energy, and the Environment was established within the context of the European Innovation Partnership for Productive and Sustainable Agriculture by the Directorate-General for Rural Development and Forestry Policy of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Forestry (MAGRAMA). The objective is to bring together academic and end-user communities, disseminate innovations on the group's topics among farmers and irrigation communities, and catalyze the future creation of operational groups that can undertake innovative projects in these areas. This group is made up of 20 experts with diverse profiles, and its operation includes a participation phase open to organizations and professionals who, while not part of the Group, have a particular interest in the topic. The results of its work will also be presented at this event.
