Descripción
Bt maize has been cultivated in Spain for over 25 years, and since then, issues have arisen that necessitate improved training and capacity building for the farmers who grow it. This includes enhancing pest management and yields, as well as improving compliance with environmental regulations. Recently, several interesting studies have been published on its socioeconomic impact, along with recommendations from the EFSA (European Food Safety Authority) on how to improve cultivation practices to prevent environmental impacts.

Objectives of the day
To present more efficient biotechnological solutions aligned with environmental requirements to combat corn pests, while also promoting the prevention of resistance development.
To train the regional technicians who inspect these farms on how to improve these yields through different measures (such as, for example, planting refuges that prevent the appearance of resistance in the borer).

This event is organized by the CAP Network belonging to the General Sub-Directorate of Agricultural Policy Planning, in collaboration with the Interministerial Council of GMOs , of the General Sub-Directorate of Agricultural Production Means and OEVV, of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAPA)
Target audience
Farmers who use biotechnological solutions to combat pests and regional technicians in charge of reviewing GMO farms, representatives of companies in the sector and anyone interested in expanding knowledge about the cultivation of BT corn.
