The National Rural Network (RRN), together with El Hueco, organized the training seminar for journalists and communicators called "How the media can help repopulate rural Spain", which took place in the Spanish province most affected by depopulation, Soria, specifically in the El Hueco Oxma Social Entrepreneurship and Innovation Space, located at 3 Juan Yagüe Street, in Burgo de Osma (Soria).
This seminar contributed to improving the perception of rural areas and rural development policy through the media. Rural journalists are essential allies in the challenge of revitalizing rural Spain and, to the extent possible, halting and reversing the process of depopulation.
Now, how can the media, especially the national media, help repopulate rural Spain? How can a balance be struck between highlighting the shortcomings of rural areas and conveying an attractive image of them? To what extent are media executives aware that depopulation is a "matter of state" and that they can contribute to its solution?
These questions were discussed at the seminar and concrete proposals were made to help/guide the media in this process .
