These initiatives, which focused on rural women, have been organized by AMCAE, AMFAR, AFAMMER, CERES, FEMUR, FADEMUR, and the Women's Union throughout the country in recent months.
Every year, MAPAMA launches a grant proposal campaign aimed at rural women's organizations nationwide for collaborative and representative activities before the General State Administration, as well as for specific activities of special interest to promote the role of women in rural development.
These grants have been used to hold workshops that have provided a meeting place for all sectors involved in rural development with a gender perspective. They have included presentations from government, consulting, and business sectors, as well as group coaching sessions aimed at fostering the empowerment of rural women.
These talks were also complemented by technical visits to various agricultural and livestock farms, where attendees were able to learn firsthand about the work carried out by their counterparts in other areas and the difficulties faced by women in rural areas. They were able to share their perspectives and experiences and set common goals.
All these talks and visits have focused on shared ownership of farms, the incorporation of women into agricultural activity, the incorporation of women into rural economic activity, women's access to rural development measures, and women's access to governance bodies of agricultural organizations and cooperatives, among other topics.
Given the vastness of the country and the importance of women in rural areas in establishing population and fostering economic, social, and cultural activity, the important role, involvement, and commitment that these organizations play in rural areas is evident, making these events an essential tool for the participatory promotion of women, facilitating their empowerment, and fostering an optimal environment for the effective achievement of gender equality in rural areas.
