Meeting of Local Action Groups to launch the inter-territorial LEADER cooperation project "Senior Spaces"

On September 26 and 27, the 6th Exchange of Experiences in the LEADER Cooperation Territory took place in Coria, Extremadura, to promote the "Senior Spaces" project.

This cooperation project, proposed by the Association for the Development of the Alagón Valley (ADESVAL), with the support of the Democratic Union of Pensioners and Retirees of Spain (UDP), aims to improve the quality of life of older adults living in rural areas through the use of new technologies and job creation. It is based on the premise that we must shift from the perception that older adults are an expense to the idea that they are an opportunity to create jobs and wealth.

This initiative was created as an inter-territorial and transnational project with the participation of the Portuguese Association for Local Development (ANIMAR). The objective of this meeting was to share with other Local Action Groups the experiences being carried out on the same topic in their areas of action. During the meeting, the pilot project "Support for Loneliness and Night Video Surveillance" was presented, carried out in the municipality of Pescueza (Extremadura). Through the application of new technologies, the project guarantees personalized 24-hour care for older adults who request it.

Throughout the day, a coordination model and a collaboration protocol were proposed to promote Senior Spaces as a collaborative project within the LEADER framework. Please remember that all Local Action Groups interested in participating in this project can contact ADESVAL .
