Through the "Rural Women" Thematic Group, the RRN has developed a program aimed at rural women and published a brochure with activities on this topic.
- The National Rural Network (RRN) publishes a brochure with activities to be carried out for rural women.
- The programming has been possible thanks to the constitution of the thematic group created with rural women from different areas throughout Spain.
The National Rural Network is setting up its program of activities for rural women in the coming months.
The “Rural Women” Thematic Group organized by the RRN On May 17th and 18th , the national meeting brought together 45 women—with multidisciplinary profiles—with the aim of collaborating on the design of an action plan in this area for the coming months that is consistent with and faithful to the reality of women in rural areas.
Based on this meeting, and together with information obtained through interviews with local stakeholders and a survey of rural women, the RRN has developed a program for rural women structured around five pillars:
- Training and support for entrepreneurship.
- Networking and association building among rural women.
- Living conditions in rural areas.
- Economic activities. Agricultural and agri-food sector.
- RRN communication activities.

- Training and support for entrepreneurship
In this regard, the RRN is already carrying out the following activities:
- Collections of good practices
- Entrepreneurship courses
Upcoming activities:
- 3 new editions of the “Entrepreneurship in Rural Areas” courses:
o 7th edition : from September 12 to October 6, 2022 (the application process will open on August 16).
2. Networking and associations among rural women
The RRN already carries out:
- Compilation of contact information for individual women, associations, and organizations working for and on behalf of rural women in each of the autonomous communities.
- Creation of a network comprised of women participating in the “Rural Women 2022” Thematic Group.
New activities to be carried out:
3. Creation of instant messaging groups ( Telegram or WhatsApp ) to encourage networking and connect associations, entities and young people from different autonomous communities who work or live in rural areas, who share the same concerns or similar objectives, or who want to create future projects together. Specifically, 8 groups will be created, provided there are sufficient participants, each corresponding to a work theme of the National Rural Network: young people, rural women, environment, innovation, depopulation and revitalization and entrepreneurship , and also adding the themes of: young farmers and social and cultural action .
3) Living conditions in rural areas
Activities and events to be held:
- Publication and dissemination of the gender equality assessment in rural areas : July 15
- Exchange of experiences and best practices from LEADER on issues related to rural women.
- Update, for 2023, of studies and analyses related to the situation of women in rural areas .
- 5th National Rural Women's Film Festival : October 2022
- Excellence in Innovation Awards Ceremony for Rural Women 2022.
4) Economic activities. Agricultural and agri-food sector.
Activities to be carried out by the RRN:
- Series of regional workshops : September-October 2022. These workshops will feature rural women from the agriculture, livestock, and agri-food sectors. This series of meetings will share the professional and personal experiences of rural women representing cooperatives, associations, and leading rural entrepreneurs in these sectors from different regions.
5) NRN communication activities
New activities to be developed by the RRN in the coming months in this field:
- Production of a monthly news article specifically on rural women, disseminating success stories and initiatives by women in rural areas.
- Production of a monthly podcast featuring interviews with rural women who excel in their profession, which will be available on the RRN website.
- Promotion of “ Rural Entrepreneurs of the Week” on social media, through photographs and basic information about their entrepreneurial projects.
- Creation of a new RRN YouTube playlist featuring video testimonials from rural women entrepreneurs.
