July 9, 2021. Generational change and the visibility of rural women are two of the major challenges facing rural areas in the coming years. The modernization of rural communities depends on the continued presence of young people and the incorporation of women into the leadership of rural tasks.
- The ADC Nordeste Local Action Group, through its Territorio Igualdad project, has developed a month of exhibitions and presentations in rural areas of Murcia dedicated to rural women.
- The National Rural Network was present at the conference through its Murcia Regional Antenna
To contribute its grain of sand to this progress, the Local Action Group ADC Nordeste (Murcia) - through its Territorio Igualdad project - has developed a month of exhibitions and presentations under the name "Encuentros 2021. Mujer Rural" (Meetings 2021. Rural Women) , with different events in several rural municipalities in Murcia: Jumilla, Yecla, Abanilla and Fortuna.
The objectives of the sessions were:
- To highlight the real situation of women in rural areas and learn about the measures being implemented in the region by state, regional, and local governments for this group.
- To share real-life experiences and experiences that demonstrate the fundamental role of women in rural development.
Rural meetings
Rural women as the driving force of rural areas. This is the premise that marks the journey of "Encuentros 2021. Mujer Rural" (Meetings 2021. Rural Women), which has taken place in the following settings and events in rural Murcia:
Jumilla : Exhibition from June 15 to 19 + Presentation June 17
Yecla : Exhibition from June 22 to 26 + Presentation June 24
Fortuna: Exhibition from June 29 to July 3 + presentation July 1
Abanilla: Exhibition + Presentation July 8
The opening of this series took place in Jumilla, attended by David Argibay, the Regional Antenna of the National Rural Network (RRN), and with a speech by Isabel Bombal, Director General of Rural Development, Innovation, and Agri-Food Training of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food. Bombal explained the measures being implemented at the national level to enhance the presence and visibility of rural women in rural areas:
- Subsidies to national rural women's associations . Since 2006.
- Excellence Awards for Innovation for Rural Women . Since 2010.
- Promotion of the Shared Ownership Law for agricultural holdings .
- Aid for Shared Ownership Farms . New in 2021.
- Collection, analysis and exploitation of information relating to women in rural areas/agri-food sectors to update the “2010 Gender Equality Diagnosis in Rural Areas” .
- National Rural Women's Film Series . Since 2018.
- Negotiation of the Inclusion of the Gender Perspective in the future Common Agricultural Policy 2023-2027 .
