On the morning of June 12, a workshop on the application of the circular bioeconomy for rural development through biomass was held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food in Madrid. This workshop was co-organized by MAPA, ASAJA, and the CIRCE Technology Center.
At this meeting, the Ministry presented the strategic framework for the bioeconomy and the opportunities it offers in the new CAP. Guests also presented the European perspective, as well as the perspective of R&D&I opportunities. In this context, Asaja and Circe presented the results of the Horizon 2020 project: Up_running, on the value of pruning and uprooting in the bioeconomy. This project presented successful cases of woody biomass valorization from olive groves, vineyards, and fruit crops. Other initiatives focused on the circular bioeconomy in the agricultural sector were then presented, both implemented by supra-regional operational groups and by cooperatives, energy agencies, and others.
