On January 15, 2019, the conference "The Role of Women in Rural Areas: Empowerment in Decision-Making" took place. Based on the experience of working with women in rural areas, efforts aimed at the practical empowerment of women were considered vitally important, articulated to facilitate their incorporation into both the decision-making bodies of Local Action Groups and those of the various organizations in the region. Within a framework of equal opportunities, women demanded greater empowerment. Communication techniques are a tool that can address the latent sense of frustration when speaking in public spaces, where women felt uncomfortable due to their lack of experience or public speaking skills.

Meeting objectives

The overall objective of this activity was to promote equal opportunities for women in rural areas.

Other specific objectives of this activity:
• Raise awareness about the importance of practical women's empowerment in rural society.
• Promote gender equality by enhancing empowerment tools.
• Promote the participation of women in government bodies.
• Improve participant training through communication techniques.
• Generate spaces for debate to capture the needs and demands of rural stakeholders, enabling the establishment of links and future lines of work.
