07.07.2020 • The “GIRA Mujeres” is a Coca-Cola project that pursues women's entrepreneurship to contribute to improving their communities and/or environments. • Its fourth edition – still ongoing – has had to be adapted to a virtual format due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“GIRA Mujeres” is a Coca-Cola project launched in 2016 that seeks to promote women's talent and work. Through a training and mentoring program tailored to the different levels of participants, GIRA Mujeres encourages them to: pursue employment, start a business without a defined business idea, or start one with an already developed one.
The project is open to women between the ages of 18 and 60, both employed and unemployed, from cities and towns throughout Spain. Its objective is twofold: to foster the participants' entrepreneurial spirit and help them develop business ideas related to the food and beverage sector, while also improving their employability . To this end, it offers three different pathways:
- Workshops and training: This is the path for women who want to become entrepreneurs but don't have a clear business idea or are still in the early stages. It consists of three stages: motivation, training, and mentoring. This phase includes both in-person and online training. In the case of rural training , Alma Natura is responsible for online training.
- Business Idea Presentation: This program is aimed at women who have an idea in mind but need practical guidance to launch it. It is also suitable for those who already have their own business but want to grow it. The in-person program (now suspended) also includes a weekend of group training outside of their community.
- Employability: for women in vulnerable situations (single women with children to support, victims of gender-based violence, immigrants, or women over 45 with low qualifications and limited work experience, etc.). The project, in conjunction with the Red Cross, seeks to provide them with job placement.
Fourth edition
In October 2019, the fourth edition of GIRA Mujeres began, with a special focus on the so-called " empty Spain" (Spanish acronym for "empty Spain"), with the aim of encouraging women's entrepreneurship to contribute to improving their communities and/or environments.
However, the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic forced the tour of Spain, Ceuta, Melilla, and Portugal to adapt to a virtual format. Thus, the workshops that were scheduled to be delivered in person have been moved to an online model, with an emphasis on helping participants overcome digital barriers so they can receive these virtual training sessions and not be left out, especially in rural areas .
Due to this situation, GIRA Mujeres has extended the training deadlines and is still ongoing, so the names of the projects to be sponsored are still unknown.
