January 24, 2020. The 7th National Rural Development Forum will be held on February 25, 26, and 27 within the framework of the Zaragoza International Agricultural Machinery Fair, under the theme "Training in the Agri-Food Sector." This Forum, organized by the Official College of Agricultural Engineers of Aragon, Navarre, and the Basque Country, will have the collaboration and support of the National Rural Network.
Globalization, the advancement of new technologies, and environmental and socioeconomic changes directly influence the excellence and professionalization of the agri-food sector. Continuing education and knowledge transfer are key to accessing tools that allow us to optimize processes and achieve results in a more efficient and innovative way, while also respecting the natural environment and enabling sustainable development.
Adapting training to the real needs of professionals is essential in this process. The need to consider new scenarios and provide solutions to the weaknesses and threats that arise in the medium and long term are key objectives for this seventh edition of the National Rural Development Forum.
The forum, structured into three main working groups, will address the topics of formal university education, training for professionals in the agricultural sector, and non-formal continuing education. The opening keynote address, on February 25, will be given by Laurens Klerx , professor in the Knowledge, Technology and Innovation Group at Wageningen University in the Netherlands. He will present the dynamics of transformation in the agricultural sector, as well as the trends and implications for supporting learning and innovation. The following day, Isabel Bombal , Director General of Rural Development, Innovation and Forestry Policy , will open the forum within the framework of FIMA 2020.
The 26th and 27th will be dedicated to roundtable discussions and presentations of practical cases, with the participation of Rosa Gallardo Cobos , director of the Higher Technical School of Agricultural and Forestry Engineering at the University of Córdoba , and Luis Ricote Lázaro , president of the Conference of Directors and Deans of Centres that teach Agricultural Engineering, Forestry Engineering, Technical Agricultural Engineering and Forestry Engineering.
This Forum will be a space for sharing experiences that will allow us to combine efforts to improve the competitiveness and training of professionals from a holistic and integrated perspective , enabling us to address the challenges of the agri-food sector in the future in a sustainable and environmentally friendly manner.
