Local Action Groups

Local Action Groups design and implement Participatory Local Development Strategies (PLDS), with the regional management authorities of the Autonomous Communities ensuring that the LAGs are inclusive and either select a partner from the group to act as the lead partner in administrative and financial matters, or join together in a legally constituted common structure.

The functions carried out exclusively by the GAL are:

  • Build the capacity of local agents to develop and execute operations;
  • Evaluate the execution of the strategy;
  • Monitor progress towards achieving the strategy's objectives;
  • Prepare and publish calls for proposals;
  • Select the operations, set the aid amount, and submit the proposals to the body responsible for final verification of eligibility before approval.
