Grants of €600,000 per project under the PNDR 2017-2020 aim to build a competitive agri-food and forestry sector that contributes to food security, the diversification of production and products, and the supply of raw materials.

June 28, 2018

The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food has published today in the Official State Gazette the first call for aid for 2018, for the granting of subsidies for the execution of innovation projects of general interest , by operational groups of the European Innovation Partnership, in the field of agricultural productivity and sustainability (AEI-agri) , within the framework of the National Rural Development Program 2014–2020.

These grants will support the implementation of innovative projects in the agri-food, forestry, and rural areas of general interest to a sector, defined and designed by supra-regional operational groups. These projects must be based on an innovative idea to solve potential problems faced in their area of operation.

The objective of this aid is to build a competitive agri-food and forestry sector that contributes to food security , the diversification of production and products , and the supply of raw materials for food and non-food uses, leveraging scientific knowledge and applying it according to their needs.

The total budget for this call amounts to €12 million , with 80% EU co-financing. The maximum grant per project is €600,000, and the amount of aid will depend on the type of product the project is focused on, and can reach 100% of the costs. This aid will primarily cover implementation costs, including project investments, as well as cooperation expenses of the operational group and dissemination costs . The application period is 20 calendar days, from June 29 to July 18, 2018 , inclusive.

BENEFICIARIES

Groups of stakeholders from more than one autonomous community or nationally, with diverse profiles, such as agriculture, livestock, cooperatives, agri-food industries, associations, or representative sector organizations , may apply for these grants. Universities, researchers or technology centers , local action groups, and other stakeholders who cooperate to jointly address a specific problem or opportunity from a multisectoral perspective, based on an innovative idea, may also apply for these grants. The beneficiary groups will be referred to as "Operational Groups."

Support for both the creation of innovative supra-regional operational groups and the implementation of innovative projects falls within the framework of the 2014-2020 National Rural Development Program, in which innovation is also a cross-cutting priority. The Managing Authority for this program, as well as the instigator for this aid, is the Directorate General for Rural Development and Forestry Policy.

These grants are funded through European EAFRD funds (80%) and national funds from the budget of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.

Applications for assistance and all available information can be found on the website of the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.

By supporting operational groups and innovative projects, we aim to create added value through a closer relationship between research and agricultural and forestry practices, encouraging greater use of available knowledge, as well as promoting faster and more widespread practical application of innovative solutions.
